I don’t know what kind of blogs you follow, but for me, I follow both business professional and lifestyle blogs. The one thing I’ve been noticing for quite some time now is the amount of bloggers who aren’t putting emphasis on a “structured” blog post.
What I mean by “structured” is including all the H1, H2, H3 and so for headers and having short paragraphs.
The other thing I noticed is, these lifestyle bloggers…..
They Walk to Their Own Beat and Nail It!
I mean, they are killing it with comments and interactions on their blog posts!
How are they getting away with it? Is it because it’s a lifestyle blog that structure is not being critiqued anymore?
As a matter of fact, I’ve seen it on some professional business sites! They are nailing it with the comments as well!
Are Times Changing
Are less and lesser
people bloggers putting emphasis on SEO and following blogging etiquette? Or are these lifestyle bloggers just basing their audience on their content and sucking readers in by the dozen?
It makes me wonder? Is SEO just for Google purposes? Do non-business niche blogs give a hoot about following the rules and pleasing Google or are they merely sharing their voice and allowing others to love it?
Are we headed backward into a time where blogging was fun and we blogged because we enjoyed it? And where our readers are less focused on all the gibberish and want to hear what bloggers have to say?
Content is Shorter Too
Not only is the content not structured, but the content is surpassing all the previously stated rules on words limits. I’ve seen many that barely make 500 words, some as little as 350. Again, the engagement is fabulous! And I am envious!
I spend time making sure I get all my damn headers in there. I also make sure that I keep short paragraphs (this is my preference, however). Those run on paragraphs make my vintage eyes go all coo-coo!
So, as I bring my shorter than usual post to an end, I would love to know if you’ve been noticing this phenomenon too! Come on! Talk to me about this! Are we putting too much effort into our non-business blogs? Can we just “wing it” the way we want?
